Plasma arc welding (PAW) is one of high performance welding methods. Nowadays PAW has been widely applied to industry process, especially with the application of new welding techniques including micro-plasma arc welding(MPAW), fine plasma arc welding(FPAW), high power variable polarity plasma arc welding(VPPAW) and so on. Different kinds of high technologies are relied on for remanufacturing engineering. With the rapid development of PAW, PAW must be more and more widely applied to the remanufacturing engineering. In this paper, the mechanism and application advantages of PAW are summarized, then, technical advantages of MPAW, FPAW and VPPAW are analyzed, and application prospects in remanufacturing engineering are remarked.
