摘要
An attempt is made to remove some of the uncertainty surrounding the sensitivity of an NMR experiment involving human samples. It is shown that noise may be associated not only with the receiving coil resistance, but also with dielectric and inductive losses in the sample. Although steps may be taken to minimize the dielectric losses, this is not the case for the magnetic losses, and an estimate is made of their effects upon the signal-to-noise ratio. Approximate values of the latter are calculated for the head and torso and some experimental constraints briefly discussed. © 1979.
