OPTOKINETIC EYE MOVEMENTS IN RABBIT - INPUT-OUTPUT RELATIONS

Slow phase velocities of optokinetic eye movements due to constant rotation or sinusoidal movement of surroundings were measured under normal and open loop conditions. Speeds from 0.03-1°/sec were followed with a closed loop gain of 0.7-0.9. Higher eye speeds were reached at an acceleration of no more than 1°/sec2 and lower gain. Open loop gain was better than 10 for stimulus velocities up to 0.1°/sec. Phase lag in sinusoidal movement was very small even at low gain. No evidence for a genuine position servo was found. © 1969.
