NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE STUDIES OF SOME BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE DIHYDROPTERINS

摘要
An improved isolation method for biopterin and neopterin from natural sources is described. Crystalline dihydrobiopterin and dihydroneopterin were prepared by reduction with sodium dithionite and successive purification by column chromatography. The 7,8-dihydro structure of dihydrobiopterin and dihydroneopterin was established by comparing their nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra to those of authentic 7,8-dihydropteridines. The NMR spectrum of sepiapterin revealed that this compound also has the 7,8-dihydro configuration. © 1968.
