HIGHLY EFFECTIVE DNA IN STIMULATING POLY-(ADP-RIBOSE) POLYMERASE REACTION

摘要
During the purification of bovine thymus poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, a fraction was obtained, which is 20 times as effective in activating the enzyme as the bulk of calf thymus DNA. The method for the isolation and purification of this active fraction is described. The results obtained by chemical analysis, UV-spectrophotometry, and ultracentrifugation of the active fraction indicate that the active substance is double stranded DNA. We suggest that the high enzyme-activating ability of the DNA is due to a DNA sequence(s), concentrated on the DNA, with a high enzyme-binding affinity. © 1979.
