Comparison of clinical outcome following coronary stenting or balloon angioplasty in dialysis versus non-dialysis patients

One-year clinical outcome after coronary stenting was similar in 27 dialysis and 250 non-dialysis patients in terms of clinical restenosis (22% vs 20%), whereas survival was higher in non-dialysis patients (98.4% vs 85%, p < 0.002), The clinical restenosis rate in patients with residual stenosis (30% after balloon angioplasty did not differ between 51 dialysis patients and 51 control patients matched for clinical and angiographic characteristics (32% in dialysis vs 33% in non-dialysis patients).
