摘要
The advantages of the use of tools of Physics in the teaching for moving the students from mindless memorization to understanding and appreciation are discussed. To maximize learning, instructors must minimize cognitive load by limiting the amount of material presented, having a clear organizational structure to the presentation. To move a student toward expert competence, the instructor must focus on the development of the student's mental organizational structure by addressing the 'why' of the subject. Education research, careful measurements, and new technology make it possible to guide most students along the way towards a true understanding and appreciation of physics.
