The paper is an overview of the experiences with the Second Dutch Transport Structure Plan. A description of the strategy and a review of the objectives in general are presented. This shows the issues involved in decreasing the impact of habitat fragmentation caused by roads and traffic, by using ecological engineering techniques, and how they have been incorporated in policy and practice.
