摘要：

由农业教育起家的美国赠地院校,在政治、经济和社会等多重矛盾的相互妥协中产生,经历了艰难困顿的初创时期,在适应与创新的相互作用中成长,其发展路径有注重公益性社会服务、关注教育民主、均衡与卓越相协调的学科布局、"有限自主与充分自治相结合"的管理架构以及科学统计与分析支持下的战略规划等特点,对中国高校在办学理念、学科建设、机制创新和制度完善等方面有较好的借鉴意义。
