摘要：

This article analyses the history of women'semployment since the Opium War of 1840 and itsrelation with the country's process of modernization;points out its characteristics at the various stages; andgives forecasts of the developmental trends ofwomen's employment-the trend of self-helpemployment and that of stains changes from below.
