摘要：

在经济全球化背景下,世界城市迅速崛起,世界城市网络逐渐形成,成为当代世界经济和城市发展中令人瞩目的现象。世界城市理论在西方学术界经过了长期发展和演变,研究内容涵盖世界城市的概念、特征、功能、分类、形成机制以及世界城市网络之间的相互作用等。分析和总结西方世界城市理论的研究成果,对促进我国大城市的发展以及建设世界城市具有一定的借鉴意义。
