现代性:资本与理性形而上学的联姻

Modern history was usually regarded as the history that human became rational subject after driving out God, so rationalism and subjectivism were looked as the core of modernity. However, it was changed by the 2 nd World War. People are force to think why subjectivism caused Bloodbath, why rationalism caused extremely un-rationalism that killed people by reason. As a result, the critique of modernity became the central topic of contemporary philosophy. In terms of above investigation, this paper tries to point out that the essence of modernity is “the marriage of capital with rational metaphysics”. Capital is not only the real subject dominating people’s modern life, but also the soil of rational metaphysics, so modern society is not “post-modern” society. On the contrary, it is “more modern society” deeply capitalized and rationalized. Accordingly, if the shame of modern philosophy were to insist on humanism without considering capitalism, it would be the shame for contemporary philosophy to take humanism as capitalist institute and to regard “more modern” society as “post-modern” society.
