摘要
Slotting allowances are a recent and controversial development in the grocery industry. An hypothesis that slotting allowances can be a means of communicating information and allocating risk between a manufacturer and retailer is offered. This hypothesis provides a plausible explanation for the emergence of slotting allowances. Appropriate antitrust policy toward the practice is discussed.
