摘要
The results of experiments are discussed which exemplify surface science studies of heterogeneous reactivity. For simplicity throughout, the reactions of formic acid, {A figure is presented}, are used as a model system. Direct comparison of reactions of formic acid on metal surfaces at high and low pressures show striking similarities. The existence of the intermediate {A figure is presented} is demonstrated at 200 K and the relevance of such results to higher temperature reaction studies is discussed. Finally the manner in which temperature programmed reaction spectroscopy and electron spectroscopies compliment one another is discussed briefly. © 1979.
