RAPID ABSORPTION OF GLUCOSE IN INTESTINAL TRACT OF RAT AFTER INGESTION OF A MEAL

摘要
Blood glucose-level in the unanesthetized, undisturbed rat rises sharply within two minutes after the start of a carbohydrate-rich meal. No such rise is seen in the case of a meal consisting of fat sweetened with saccharin sodium. Increase in blood radioactivity after a testmeal containing 14C-glucose shows that the rapid rise is due entirely to absorption of glucose from the intestinal tract, both after 24 hr food deprivation and in the ad libitum situation. © 1969.
